Heyyyy you motherfuckers!!! Okay, I’ve been gone for a while (sowwy) — but I have something special for you today. I’m doing an epic round of bands this week for MFKN METAL MONDAY. Since a lot of these are songs instead of full albums I think that’s fair — not that I won’t try to sneak a few in there. Of course as you know, the deeper down the list we go the HEAVIER it’s gonna get, and I don’t plan on starting off light either. So buckle up, it’s time to piss off your neighbors and scare the car next to you… LET’S GO!!!
INSTINCT — “THE ONE WHO KNOCKS”
Starting us off on our list is gonna be metalcore band INSTINCT from Dallas, Texas! “The One Who Knocks” was released over the weekend and is a huge indicator that they’re probably coming out with a new album soon (I’ll be looking for it!). The song is everything I love about metalcore: gutteral vocals, hard hitting riffs, and a little bit of bounce in the middle. Right now they’re actually fearing up for (about) a week long tour around Texas! So if you’re in the longhorn state check out their tour schedule for this month. DIVINITIST — “VICIOUS//SLEEPER 2.0”
This badass slamming deathcore beatdown band from Niigata, Japan has just come out with a new song “Vicious//Sleeper 2.0” and it fuckin slaps. DIVINITIST started out during the pandemic in 2020 and has been releasing music since then. “Vicious//Sleeper 2.0” is more of a brutal, crunchy sound that expels into your ears and curdles the blood — lovely. DIVINE DISMEMBERMENT — ‘SELF TITLED’
This is the type of dismemberment I can fuck with (if you know you know). DIVINE DISMEMBERMENT is a new brutal deathcore band coming out of Kansas City, Missouri! I’m digging the fact that I can headbang to this and never change tempo. The songs on the DIVINE DISMEMBERMENT EP have different little things with each one that makes it unique (rhythm changes and playing around with vocals), but it’s all beautifully cohesive. FIXER — ‘DEMO (2022)’
This has got to be one of the most fire-ass demos I’ve ever heard — deadly. FIXER is a brand new power violence/grindcore band starting out from Leeds, UK. It’s a heavy mix up full of all the energy and chaos you’d expect from a band like this. For this being their demo tape I’m excited to see what else they have coming up in the future! I’m not sure if bands normally tour off of a demo release but FIXER definitely should (and please bring that chaos over to California)! GUINEAPIG — “MERMAID IN A MANHOLE”
I’m loving this music video for GUINEAPIG‘s song “Mermaid In A Manhole” from their latest album ‘Parasite’. As an art model I appreciate the movements of their video model (would love to do something like that here in LA *cough cough*) and how creepy but artistic the poses were. The song itself is great combination of goregrind vocals and blasts of death metal. From Rome, Italy, GUINEAPIG had been dormant for about eight years but came back together again for a second album. DISEMBODIED TYRANT — “OMENKILLER”
FUCK. ME. UP. From St Louis, Missouri we have a symphonic progressive deathcore band by the name of DISEMBODIED TYRANT! Newly released from the album ‘The Divine Stigmata’, “Omenkiller” is one sick mother. The pig-like gutterals, the slamming brutality, and the symphonic sounds in the background bring it all together to create this epic song — the breakdown that’s four minutes in… ughhh!!!! Although ‘The Divine Stigmata’ is not available for purchase anywhere (am I blind?! help!), you can stream it on Spotify for the time being.
