Heyyy everyone! Today is another Wednesday and you know what that means — more music for your rituals! I’m still experiencing the fiery waves from the Aries moon so I’m in the mood to smoulder. Here are my top picks for this week’s moon!
TARS — ‘I WAS HAUNTED BY THE IDEA THAT I REMEMERED HER WRONG’
This is a fantastic way to start off the playlist! An atmospheric prog-stoner band from Belgium by the name of TARS has just released a third album this year (holy crap). ‘I Was Haunted…’ is a mostly instrumental album with dark ambient overtones and a dreamy tune. TARS has been creating music since 2019 and has a habit of releasing multiple albums per year (except for 2021). All of these tracks were actually written by one guy (whoa) — Damien Polfliet. Check out the new album ‘I Was Haunted…’ by TARS below and be dure to show your support by purchasing from their official Bandcamp page!
LIMP — ‘HERD’
Another fantastic addition to the lineup is a band called LIMP from Thessaloniki, Greece! With ‘Herd’ being their second album I’d love to hear more from them. There’s no official social media (yet?) but tone of the bandmates seems to be carrying the torch on his account (linked below) with all the members tagged. ‘Herd’ and it’s female vocals emit a sense of raw divine power, and the style of music is definitely on the psychedelic/prog-rock side. It begins with a jolt and eases you into the rhythm of their energy. Check out the new record by LIMP below and the official Bandcamp page to purchase!
OSIAS VON DOOM — ‘THRONOS’
This one has a nice, slow smouldering vibe to it — an instrumental cosmic doom metal band from Amiens, France by the name of OSIAS VON DOOM (nice). The deep spacey tones of ‘Thronos‘ is my favorite element of the album. It really feels like deep space, like you’re aimlessly floating around in the cosmos in slow motion. OSIAS VON DOOM is a single-soul band and has been dropping several albums per year since 2019 with ‘Thronos’ being the third one this year. Go on a deep space dive with the album below and be sure to check out their official Bandcamp page!
DRY VEIN — ‘ROGER T.’
If you’re looking for something less heavy and more on the psychedelic side then this is the one for you! DRY VEIN is a psych-garage rock band from Ritterstraße, Germany who’s just unleashed their third album called ‘Roger T.’ and it’s a vibe. A little bit of 70’s, a little bit of Rock N’ Roll, ‘Roger T.’ transports the listener to a place where they can get lost in a trippy, blissful state of mind. Check out the new album by DRY VEIN and head over to their official Bandcamp site for more music!

KALA AZAR — ‘DETHRONED FOREVER’
If you’re looking for something heavy then this is the one for you! KALA AZAR is a sludge/doom metal band from Solothurn, Switzerland. ‘Dethroned Forever’ is a serpentine journey through deviously dark chords and wicked riffs. I love how deeply doomy it is like a perfect autumn day — dark and cloudy but no rain. It may only be two (lengthy) songs long, but it’s just as compelling as an album twice as long — maybe even more so. Listen to KALA AZAR‘s new EP ‘Dethroned Forever’ below and hit up their official Bandcamp page to support the band!
MOUNTAINS — ‘TIDES END’
English rock meets sludge metal. MOUNTAINS is a different type of sludge with elements of progressive metal and stoner rock. This London, UK group gives us a spectrum of clean vocals and growls with an upbeat tempo throughout. ‘Tides End’ is about “The record is about grief, courage, renewal and the journey through”. MOUNTAINS has burst through the years of silence and erupted with a record that explores the complexities of each genre they manifest while conveying grief and redemption with each passing lyric. Listen to ‘Tides End’ below and don’t forget to check out their Bandcamp page for purchasing options!

ABISSI — ‘OLTRE’
I’m loving this album — it’s like a psych/stoner version of TAME IMPALA. Milan band ABISSI has relinquished the new album ‘Oltre’ to the world and it’s a marvelously trippy experience. The wavy riffs seem to dive in and out of twistedly sour and vividly auratic ranges while the vocals howl and drone in the most opportunistic places. Low and rippled in every song, I’m digging the space-like heavy psych. Check out ‘Oltre’ by ABISSI below and also head to their Bandcamp page to show your support!
