Hey everyone! I’m officially back! Had a great birthday that lasted for about… 4 1/2 days. Binging on champagne and weed for half a week straight kinda makes me tired for a whole week afterwards. I really mean like, wake up and don’t even know what day or time it is — pop another bottle and roll one up (while playing drinking games to Nickelodeon movies). So, I’ve partied, and slept, and missed a Witchy Wednesday post — pretty sure they’ve all cursed me by now (hahaha!), but that’s okay. Oh, and in the middle of me recovering/sleeping, I got a message in my DM’s about SMOD’s FB page being hacked. The last day it worked properly was on my birthday… hmmm. I think my favorite part about this are the positive interactions with the new content (helpful/weird content). Whoever did it, if you’re reading this right now, I haven’t “lol’d” that hard in a while — thanks for that! Anyways, I’m coming out of my coma, and we’re back with another Stoner Metal Saturday post!
SLOWENYA — ‘SOMER’
In love with this! Coming from Turku, Finland, SLOWENYA has released their debut album called ‘Somer’ this passed week! This album has more of a psychedelic sludge vibe to it. Loving the mixture between dark and melodic tones! From start to finish this album is the shit. Definitely passed the “speaker test” over here. For a first release, I must say, I’m very excited to see what else they’ll be coming up with in the future. SLOWENYA‘s EP ‘Somer’ is available for download! UNGRAVEN — “DEFEAT THE OBJECT”
UNGRAVEN is an amazing experimental doom metal band by Jon Davis (Conan), Tyler Hodges (Tuskar) & David Riley (Fudge Tunnel). They’ve been releasing demos and EP’s since 2018, but this particular one is a split album between UNGRAVEN and SLOMATICS. Recently released, and a glorious find — you need to listen to this split album! The song below is called “Defeat The Object” and it’s the very first song off the split, so you can imagine what the rest sounds like! BLOODSHOT BUFFALO — ‘BECOMING ABSENCE’
Another new release! BLOODSHOT BUFFALO is a psych/stoner rock back from Santa Rosa, California (really surprised that I haven’t ran into them yet!!) and this is their new album called ‘Becoming Absence’ (can relate haha!). It’s a slow groove that hinges on a darkened madness throughout the album. Currently making its rounds on YouTube and beyond — check out this awesome band’s new album ‘Becoming Absence’ below and their many, many albums on Band Camp!
BLACK TAR SUPERSTAR — “HAND OF DOOM”
New song from my buddies in BLACK TAR SUPERSTAR! I was gonna post this last week, but I was either too cross-faded or dead or both (and I wanted it in an SMS post too). BLACK TAR SUPERSTAR‘s new song “Hand of Doom” was released a couple of days before my birthday (February 26th) and has a killer new vibe to it. A lot more raspy/heavy with the vocals and experimental with the melody from light doom to thrashy doom. This is NOT on their last album — completely new stuff. Will there be a new album, maybe?
