Really excited to kick this new year off with some BRAND NEW music from a band called STRANGLED. Unfortunately it’s so riddled with curse words such as “sop ass cunt” (love it), it’s not going to play anywhere BUT YouTube. However, I have some other goodies for ya down below! Not those goodies. Sheesh! So STRANGLED is a Pure Slamming Hate/OKC Slam band from Oklahoma City, OK that honestly gives me hope for the future.
Their latest single “TORA” spells out leftover emotions of living in a state that had 65.4% (1,020,280) of the population voting for Trump (ew). Making historical references by mentioning the fictional CUNTfederate soldier known as “Jonny Reb” (civil war propaganda character) made for a more well-rounded “love letter” to 2020 and all it’s fuckery.
Another (and more obvious) historical drop was the title name “TORA” which was coined during Pearl Harbor:
“Tora was the Japanese code word indicating that complete surprise had been attained. The word, which can also mean “tiger” is actually an abbreviation of “totsugeki raigeki” (突 撃雷撃) which means “lightning attack.” “Tora! Tora! Tora!” was the name of a 1970 movie directed by Kinji Fukasaku, Toshio Masuda and Richard Fleischer that represented both the Japanese and the American points of view on the surprise attack on Pearl Harbor.“ (Source)
Aside from the historical context of their music it just fuckin slams! Even their merch is sick (we like the same style of knives too!). Definitely want the knife windbreaker when it’s back in stock… for now I’ll settle for the knife panties 😉
So since it’s too explicit, I decided to write it out as a letter just for fun:
