HAPPY MFKN NEW YEAR!!! I’m so fuckin glad that 2020 is OFFICIALLY in the trash, but however squeaky clean the slate feels, we still have some work to do! And this year I’m kicking things off with a classic Stoner Metal Saturday post! Some people may look familiar (what’s up Instagram fam!) and others… not so much! But that’s the fun, right? Let’s delve into the unknown wiiiiiith……
WATCHMAN — ‘BEHOLD A PALE HORSE‘
FINALLY happy to share this awesome EP since I don’t share links from racists who profit from band’s music and make a weekly habit of promoting racial slurs (guess who lol)! Anywho! New music for the new year from WATCHMAN who has released a three-song EP from his upcoming full length album ‘Doom of Babylon’ that’s due this summer! More of a stoner/cowboy-doom kind of vibe. Pretty excited to see what the rest of the album is going to sound like. From what I can tell, WATCHMAN is a one-man band from Indiana who’s interests also lie in Hip Hop and Reggae. Be sure to check out their album streaming on WEEDIAN‘s YouTube channel (much better — no racism, hatred, or conspiracy theories about Jewish people). BOG WIZARD — ‘FROM THE MIRE’
This EP comes straight from my dudes in BOG WIZARD on Instagram who submitted via IG post/contest! Really happy that I was introduced to this band! BOG WIZARD has an old school flavor mixed with new age sound effects. The beginning of this album starts off listing a host of things that I don’t really have a problem with (lol oops?) and dives right into some low bass, mid-paced stoner rock. They get heavier as the album goes along with some drudging riffs, low droning bass, and and vocals to match! I love that it goes from stoner rock to swamp doom. And if you like them I’ve got some good news for ya! On Jan 24th, BOG WIZARD will be doing a livestream show with Happy hour with Heather and guest (FB Group) and you can RSVP here! Also there’s the split album with Dust Lord (Four Tales of the Strange) that’s coming out March 5th with CD, cassette, and VINYL presales starting soon!

SUN OF GREY — ‘OUTERWORLD’
My new Instagram buddy SUN OF GREY has got some dark ass stormy/doom metal vibes going on here! With their latest album ‘OUTERWORLD’ they deliver eyebrow raising riffs and deeeeep basslines. Coming out of Colorado Springs SUN OF GREY is a band that I can get into, and this is just their second release. I mean, they even have a song called “Lucifer Smiled” which is my favorite from the album — it’s just too MFKN good! Desert psych with cloaked by raging doom. I I need to see this band live as soon as this COVID thing is done with us! Really glad you guys found me on IG!

EYELET — ‘THE DEVIL SHINING OUT YOUR EYES’
It was the name that caught my attention — the music did the rest. The best way I can describe EYELET, is “melodic sludge”. I know… “what the fuck is that” right? Well it’s sludge screaming with melodic instrumentals that are hinting on the doom/core side. Definitely worth a listen. As it turns out, the Maryland band EYELET has been in the game for a minute releasing music since 2014. ‘The Devil Shining Out Your Eyes’ is their sixth release (including a split with Gillian Carter) and I don’t think they’re going to slow down any time soon. EYELET‘s album is NAME YOUR PRICE on their Band Camp page right now –somewhere between $5-$10 is acceptable but it’s BETTER to give more than the average bear ya know?
GORILLA WIZARD — “MAPLE CRUNCH”
I wanted to end the list with something fun! Not an album this time, but a wild ass music video from another Instagram buddy GORILLA WIZARD! ‘Tales From The Cauldron’ is GORILLA WIZARD‘s first album and I’m already down for what the live shows are gonna be like (pleeeease have the Gorilla Wizard throw Maple Crunch at us). It’s a fuzzy rock n’ roll kind of vibe with loud venomous screams and growls (loving the crazy riff changes in “Smashosaurus”). I SERIOUSLY recommend going to their Band Camp page and check out GORRILA WIZARD‘s entire ‘Tales From The Cauldron’ album! But not before you see this music video below!
