This is week “fuck if I know” for this awkward apocalypse annnnnd my internet is down. I’m doing this post ENTIRELY from my phone and I want to fucking die. I can’t even upload a new photo for this post! It might not be Mad Max outside (yet)…. but it is IN HERE. Let’s get started… here we go!
SUMMIT — THE END
Stellar old school style doom right here! Norwegian DOOM METAL architects SUMMIT come in with a robust sound that boarders on black. This album is a definite add on for my Witchy Playlist! It’s just too epic sounding. Low dark tones coupled with electric riffs, and deep foreboding vocals — a sweet mixture. Their latest album entitled ‘The End’ was recently released on March 15th, 2020. Its about a half hour long with only two songs (haha nice)! This one is for all of my witchy and dark artsy friends getting weird in their apartment.

CLYDE VON KLAUS — KLAUSTROPHOBIC
Another great band for this week’s list! One man STONER ROCK band CLYDE VON KLAUS from Hutto, Texas (Buffalo, NY originally) delivers an amazing array of songs with an acid/stoner vibe. It’s a bit of garage punk, acid/stoner, with a bit of doom to be exact. It’s the kind of music I would put on to start my day with a fat blunt and some cleaning products (hahaha!) — I can’t sit down to this. The awesome EP was just released on March 28th, 2020! So hurry up and listen it it! One random thing about the artist: he’s a huge Bette Davis fan! (Saaaaaaaame ughhhh!!!).

SUNCZAR — THE UNVEILING
There’s always that one album each week that makes me go “fuckin shit!”… this is that album. German HEAVY STONER ROCK band SUNCZAR is one of those bands that pack a punch. It’s hard, heavy, and fast throughout the entire EP — really gets the adrenaline going! Most of all, the vocals are just as heavy as their sound. Their album ‘The Unveiling’ was published on 666Mr.Doom’s YouTube channel just four days ago! I highly recommend you blasting this one and get loose! But… maybe move your furniture first haha!

LORD LOUD — “TIMID BEAST”
This is another killer. “Timid Beast” by Los Angeles HEAVY PSYCH/STONER ROCK duo LORD LOUD gives us a taste of their upcoming album (also called Timid Beast) which will be out on September 4th. My favorite of the two songs released, this one is a mover and a shaker. I really dig the stylized vocals to make it more vintage sounding. Along with the echoed guitar riffs, there’s no wrong time to listen to this song. Seriously looking forward to the rest of the album!

PRAISE THE SUN — ALCHEMICAL OMEN
Another lovely submission from Norway (getting a lot of Norwegian love, nice)! BLACKENED/CAUSTIC STONER ROCK band PRAISE THE SUN sent me this gem just in time! This band is a little more raspy and wild than the others. It sounds a little apocalyptic which is perfect for this climate. I could see this playing over some camp’s loudspeakers at Burning Man with a moshpit. The melody flirts with some thrashy elements but is ultimately stoney as hell. There WILL be a part two of this album coming up this year (hopefully by summer… we shall see). So for now add this to your “MadMax” / “Apocalypse” playlist and enjoy!
