Hey everyone! Since it’s getting colder and darker around here I thought it’d be cool to share something interesting to match this dreadful weather. If you’re into scary stories but not that over-the-top — and just plain childish “Creepy Pasta” stuff, then you’re in the right place. Yes, these are actually real and some even come with footage — definitely not for kids. I’ve been a fan of true crime documentaries as well as Buzzfeed Unsolved, but this is a bit more intense. The stories are written by the people it happened to (submitted by viewers), or found from news articles on the internet. Prepare to shit your shorts — it’s time to never sleep again (because you’re obsessed and can’t stop playing videos)!
My number one favorite when it comes to scary true stories on the internet. I came across Mr. Nightmare while looking up “scary ring cam footage” on Youtube — he definitely delivered. After running out of those I looked at some other videos and never looked back. This channel isn’t dedicated to any theme in particular, which is why I like it. I usually just find a video that pertains to whatever I’m doing at the time and freak myself out on purpose! Check out one of my personal favorites below.
I love a little horror cartoon with my scary stories once in a while — also a long compilation is always a bonus! Mort’s animations gives vibrant animated stories that are perfect for any stormy winter night. Make no mistake just because it’s a cartoon doesn’t make it any less terrifying — I’ve stayed up all night over these hours long compilation videos out of sheer entertainment, and fear. One of my classic favorites to come home to and start winding down my day with. Whispered Diaries is a great one to listen to while cooking, cleaning, watering plants etc. The mere fact that these are given in my it’s own readers is deliciously horrifying, and not to mention a great way to scare yourself. It’s always a pleasure to see that there’s another video from this Youtube channel. Let’s Read takes found stories from Reddit and retells them as written for it’s 1 million followers. The stories are insane — I don’t know how long it takes for this Youtuber to go through all of these and find the most epic horrors but they do a great job! Not to mention the live streams on their channel where they read the Reddit horror stories to their audience! Check out Let’s Read below:
If you’re looking for a deep dive into some of the most notorious crimes in history then this is the channel for you! Coffeehouse Crime is an addicting and carefully crafted ride with a host who’s eye for detail make you feel like you’re helping to solve the (already solved) case. A bonus is that the host always ends with a word for the ones who had lost their loved one and is more focused on the killed instead of the killer(s). Check out Coffeehouse Crime’s video below:
Do you remember that one thing that went viral on the internet years ago, and now you wonder where the person behind the meme/video went? This is the place for you. Wavy Web Surf is dedicated to unlocking all of the internet’s hidden treasures and breaking down their origins and whereabouts. Although not always horrifying, and mostly funny, it can get a little dark. Sometimes it’s computer crimes, other times someone found a rat in their bucket of chicken — if it’s gone viral online, chances are it’s here! NOW, you can start to freak out! Visual Venture is kind of like Wavy Web Surf, only it’s main purpose is to freak you out about the internet. Even if that’s not what the creator meant to do, it is what it is. This channel makes me want to shut off my computer and tape my lenses closed. I definitely recommend this to anyone who loves to get into the deepest parts of the web looking for crazy shit. Whether it’s petty dark web crimes, or a full blown ring of people involved in the black market this channel covers everything that’s scary about the internet.
This one is a bit of a bonus! It covers everything from Reddit and it’s literally just an automated robot retelling the stories. The best part is the stories can either be true terror or the funniest thing you’ve ever heard — so either way it’s going to be highly entertaining! UE Stories has a habit of choosing the craziest things it can find on Reddit so you’re in for a surprise with every story. Check out one of the creepy ones below:
