Hey everyone! The end is near! Well, the end of the 2022 that is. Perfect timing for coming up with new things to accomplish next year! Also, a great time to reflect on what got done (and what didn’t) and how to improve our lives. So this week I’m looking for something new, something I can gain inspiration from or zone out and brainstorm with. Everyone says, “oh this year is gonna be my year” but it’ll never happen unless you put in the work. Let’s find some music that fits the mood so we can kick 2023’s ass!

ET MORS — ‘LIFELESS GREY’

A little bit of black metal and a little bit of drone with a whole lot of doom and we have this band! ET MORS is a doom metal band from Washington, D.C. and they’ve just released their second album called ‘Lifeless Grey’. This is a perfect record to zone out with — the droning sounds mixed with the mysteriously dark vocals give it a meditative and calming energy. From ET MORS about the album: “Lifeless Grey is our first LP as a two piece, and our latest release after two years since our split album with Surrogate Prey. SCUZZY YETI — ‘RUINED’

With their power-ballad vocals and heavy, searing riffs SCUZZY YETI is a force all their own. From Troy, New Hampshire, SCUZZY YETI is a heavy prog-psych band who’s just recently unleashed their second album called ‘Ruined’. The infectious “take no prisoner” attitude composed throughout the record embodies a true sense of rock n’ roll combined with their own personal style. ALCONAUT — “ASCENDING I: THE DEPARTURE”

Time to get a little wild! ALCONAUT is a psych/desert/doom metal band from Bastia, France who’s released another long-form track this year! Their galactic track “Ascending I: The Departure” starts off as a blissful melody, then soon turns into a fiery finish with bouts of riffs crashing through the hypnotizing wave of music. This is the perfect band for anyone who loves to go on a journey with their music, or who loves a nice surprise ending! FOGTEETH — “THE COSMIC EXPERIENCE”

This is a gorgeous psychedelic/stoner instrumental song by stoner/space rock band FOGTEETH from Lahti, Finland. “The Cosmic Experience” is a track from their latest album ‘Headspace’ which was released July of 2022. The song truly is an experience — a space journey through heavy riffs and rhymes. If you’re a heavy daydreamer (like myself) you’ll love this band! EN LA NIEBLA — ‘EN LIMBO DE LOS CALLADOS’

In need of something on the heavy side? Look no further! EN LA NIEBLA is a stoner/doom metal band from Córdoba, Argentina who’s released their debut album ‘En Limbo de Los Callados’ earlier this week. The blackened sweetness of EN LA NIEBLA makes for an all too decadent sound. Highly recommended for anyone who’s a fan of melodic metal with a dark vibe.
