Hey everyone! As cold as it is, it’s still not technically winter yet — yikes! In one more week the Winter Solstice will be upon us and by that time I’m sure I’ll have frozen my tits clean off. But before we get to that, it’s time to prepare! Personally, I’m doing a SERIOUS deep clean and a big ritual next week. What are you up to? Let me know through whichever social media you follow! For this week, I’m going to want a good variety of music to clean with, gather up my energy, and of course the Winter Solstice ritual. Let’s see what happens!
SEER OF THE VOID — “ELECTRIC FATHER”
Starting us off nice and heavy! SEER OF THE VOID is a doom/sludge metal band from Athens, Greece! Their new song “Electric Father” is from the upcoming album ‘Mantra Monolith’ which is set to release January 27, 2023. While “Electric Father” is available to listen to now, the rest of the record remains a secret. If this first song is any indication as to how the rest of the album will go, I’m looking forward to listening! This band gives a great low ebb kind of tempo with even lower droning tones, then stuns us with a beautiful guitar solo that tears through the hypnotizing wave. LOUDLIGHT — ‘MASTERS OF LOUDLIGHT’
This one is a little groovy! LOUDLIGHT is a stoner/fuzz band from Italy, Scandinavia, and the USA! This 3-piece international band has recently released their first album ‘Masters of Loudlight’ just last week. This meditatively soothing stoner rock band is a perfect fit for anyone who’s more into the “flower child” era of stoner/fuzz music. ONSLOW — “IN THE WEST”
Let’s get a little hazy! ONSLOW is a doom metal band from Tampere, Finland! Their first song entitled “In The West” is a ten-minute jam session with doomgaze melodies and hauntingly sweet vocals. With this being their first and only release I can only imagine what ONSLOW has in store for us in the future! SALTY RIVER — “MELTING SKY”
Let’s get culty! SALTY RIVER is a stoner/doom band from Cyprus who’s in their “new band” phase! The split vocals between the begrudgingly baritone and the airy soprano gives this song an ethereal feeling. Within only a few minutes, SALTY RIVER conveys a spiritual ripple within the listener. “Melting Sky” is a dark melodic doom song with flecks of light cascading through it. DEATH TRIP — ‘MOUNT DOOM’
Time to get a little trippy! DEATH TRIP is a doom/blues band from Winnipeg, Manitoba who has unveiled their first EP titled ‘Mount Doom‘. This mellow record is perfect for anyone looking to get seriously stoned and vibe out. The album becomes increasingly electrifying almost immediately — a great find for our Winter Solstice celebration!
