Hey everyone! I’m feeling a little more energetic than usual — maybe it’s the moon, maybe not. Either way I need something to match, so you know what that means (muahaha)! This week I’m on the hunt for some crazy, raging, ten thousand beats per second shit. Musically speaking, I need some hardcore chords to satisfy the moment. Let’s get into it!
TALLAH — ‘THE GENERATION OF DANGER’
If you were wondering what an upgraded version of nu metal would sound like, here it is! TALLAH is a nucore metal band out of Pennsylvania and they’ve recently released their second full length album ‘The Generation of Danger’. This album is everything you love about nu metal music from the vinyl scratching to the hardened riffs, but intertwined with metalcore. Gutturals, rap, and screams of fury! ‘The Generation of Danger’ is a nostalgic record that gives the listener a dose of the metalcore we all know and come to expect from most emerging artists as well as the nu metal we remember from over two decades ago. Honestly, it would be pretty cool/epic if they did a song or something with MIKE SHINODA… *hint hint*. Check out the new album by TALLAH below and get over to their official Bandcamp page for all purchasing options.
COMPLEXANT — “BASILISK VENOM”
Time to get wild! COMPLEXANT is a blackened deathcore band from Wollongong, New South Wales, Australia who has literally just released this new song “Basilisk Venom”. The intricate guitar riffs, the relentless drumming, and the angsty, guttural screams all make for an intriguing, highly energetic song. I sincerely love blackened death and COMPLEXANT doesn’t disappoint. They have a knack for creating a diabolically powerful sound with an overlay of blackened chords, and death metal breakdowns. “Basilisk Venom” is the third track COMPLEXANT has released this year, most likely working up to a full album. Check out the new song “Basilisk Venom” by COMPLEXANT below and head over to their Bandcamp page to listen to their other tracks from earlier this year!
ERODE — ‘SELF TITLED’
If this is their first EP, these other beatdown bands better watch out! ERODE is a hardcore beatdown metal band from Baltimore, Maryland who’s came out with their killer self titled EP last month! There are plenty of breakdowns, heavy “low to the floor” riffs with a hint of death. The percussion pushes the beat from steady, but deadly paces into a full on frenzy and interchange at random giving the listener pleasant rushes of adrenaline when it switches up. Speaking on the vocals, the singer’s demonic growls and howls are just perfect — hardcore from start to finish. ERODE is definitely on my “bands to watch for” list! Check out the new self titled EP by ERODE below and get on over to their official Bandcamp site to purchase!
BETRAYAL DEVOURS COWARDS — “PÚTRIDA EXISTENCIA”
Ohh this is gonna be good! BETRAYAL DEVOURS COWARDS is a groove metal/deathcore band from Santiago, Chile who’s come out with their official music video for “Pútrida Existencia”. The song is a definitive battle between unholy rapture and a hellish overtones which makes it the perfect song if you’re looking for something raw but different. While “Pútrida Existencia” is from their 2021 album ‘Xenoraza’, BETRAYAL DEVOURS COWARDS has recently come out with an instrumental version of the album. Check out “Pútrida Existencia” by BETRAYAL DEVOURS COWARDS below and be sure to get on their official Bandcamp page for more of their music!
KORPSEFUCKER — ‘NEW ENGLAND’S MOST WANTED’
New band alert! KORPSEFUCKER is a slamming goregrind band (from New England I’m guessing) who’s new on the scene with their demo ‘New England’s Most Wanted’ which is a grimy infestation of raw gutturals and heavy… well, everything. ‘New England’s Most Wanted’ is a fantastic representation of goregrind at it’s most pure with wildly rotten gutturals and music to match. The vocals in this demo are insane, and completely monstruous — I’m very interested in hearing how they progress in their career. Check out the KORPSEFUCKER demo ‘New England’s Most Wanted’ below and don’t forget to show your support by going to their official Bandcamp page for purchasing options!
SOLD SOUL — ‘I HOPE WE MAKE IT OUT OF THIS ALIVE’
Well damn! I heard this album was good, but they did not warn me properly! SOLD SOUL is a blackened deathcore band from North Carolina who’s just released a full length album four days ago called ‘I Hope We Make It Out Of This Alive’. From beginning to end this album is a full blown cathartic assault that sets me on fire!! The desperate howls and hellish screams hit a level I’ve never even heard before. That, accompanied with a variety of sounds such as violins, a whole choir, or a killer rap verse (yes, this album has bars!!) makes this album a different shade of black — a refined, and redefined, romanticized black. I’m completely blown away by the craftsmanship of putting all of this together with each song being it’s own personal brand of glorious. If you love black metal, you will LOVE this — guaranteed. Check out the new SOLD SOUL album ‘I Hope We Make It Out Of This Alive’ below and don’t forget to purchase it on their official Bandcamp page!
TWO-PIECE — ‘SELF-TITLED’
I could tell right from the start that this was going to make the list. TWO-PIECE is a hardcore beatdown band from Florida who has just unleashed a self titled album! This band is beatdown right down to the core and adds their own flavor with some rap flow energy. Energy for days, this album is relentless when it comes to hyping the listener up with it’s intermittent breakdowns and raspy growls. The TWO-PIECE self titled LP is their second full length album and fifth release overall. Check out the new TWO-PIECE LP below and follow their official Bandcamp page to see when it’s available for purchase!
