Hey everyone! I’m super glad to be back! That storm really knocked my internet out for a while (I was hoping nothing bad would happen but meh). Now that I’m back we’ll be diving into our regularly scheduled posts today being Stoner Metal Saturday! I’m looking for some music to chill out with, something easy-going/not too serious. After last week, I’m down for some relaxing music. Let’s see what I can find today…

SAPNA — ‘SELF TITLED’

A divinely hypnotic band, Nashville, Tennessee’s own SAPNA has a heavy psych rock/doom/drone sound to their music. Very experimental sounds with its slow, heavy riffs and garage band vocals. Their self titled EP happens to be their debut album! Great stuff for only being around for such a short time. It’s got a bit of everything: fuzz, heavy psych, stoner rock, space rock, and of course little bit of drone and doom. SAPNA expels a heightened vibration and gives the listener a vicarious experience through sound. RAT KING — ‘CORONATION’

Easy-going garage band vibes with sludge vocals/bassline — a stellar combination! RAT KING is a sludge/doom metal band from Evansville, Indiana who’s been around since 2016. The new album by RAT KING is a testament to the different ways you can deconstruct sludge and doom metal music into your own personal style. It’s heavy, but it’s not muddy. It’s sludge, but it’s gazey. ‘Coronation’ is a perfect record to decompress to like a weighted blanket — heavy and warm. COSMIC FILTH — ‘LOW RIDE ON A HIGH TIDE’

I’m digging this 70’s jam session vibe! COSMIC FILTH is a space/jam rock band from England, UK who’s just released a new album. ‘Low Ride on a High Tide’ is an impromptu recording of a jam session that ended up becoming this awesomely random collection of fuzzy riffs and instrumental psych. This is a great album to chill and smoke with — let the music take you on a journey and chill out!
