I’m super excited to announce that DEER LORD — a heavy psych/doom metal band from Santa Rosa, California — has released a new EP this week! ‘WITCHES BREW/PSYCHEDELIC ROADKILL’ is a two-song album that invokes our witchy side for a divine energy boost. The lazy, yet feral arc swirling through a deep, muddy track gives the perfect groove. When the beat kicks up that’s where you feel the fire and intensity that is DEER LORD especially with the song “Psychedelic Roadkill”. THRUMM — ‘NEON DEAD’
Brand new stoner rock/doom metal band from Atlanta, Georgia has come forth with their debut album — please welcome THRUMM! Their new EP titled ‘NEON DEAD’ is an 80’s style stoner rock with a doomy edge. With the 80’s vibe coming from the vocal range and styling this is a different kind of stoner rock band. THRUMM has a rock n’ roll style to their approach and a killer upbeat tempo to ‘NEON DEAD’ . This is more on the rock side and delivers a powerhouse performance by the band! NOTHING IS REAL — ‘THE END IS NEAR’
If you’re looking for some doomy music with black metal style vocals then you’ve made it to the right place! NOTHING IS REAL is a doom/sludge/black metal band from Los Angeles, California (hey neighbors!) who’s released a lot of music since 2019 — their latest being ‘THE END IS NEAR’. The new album is a savage mixture of blackened doom, wicked vocals, plus a few good stoner rock/groove metal riffs. It’s not the typical slow sludge music, NOTHING IS REAL has a serious prog thing going on. The melodic tones that get swept into a frenzy of doom give the listener a saturated wave of darkness to vibe out with. PHARM — ‘VORTEX’
Ohhhh let’s get weird! Coming from Kelowna, BC we have PHARM who’s a progressive stoner rock band. Their new album ‘VORTEX’ is a magical creation with colliding methods of music. This may be the most progressive stoner rock I’ve ever heard — it boarders on stoner/djent. The album ‘VORTEX’ feels like a vortex (especially with the right kind of weed) and you’re getting sucked into a wonderland of endless forms of stoner rock. PHARM made a fantastic record to lose yourself with, and oftentimes you may even question what forms of music are even possible! LÁGOON — ‘BURY ME WHERE I DROP’
LÁGOON is a prime example as to why Portland, Oregon is known for its doom metal bands. I don’t know what’s going on up there or why PDX produces such killer doom but I want to find out! LÁGOON is a Portland doom band who’s been dooming it up since 2018 and has just revealed a brand new album! The sludge-a-licious ‘BURY ME WHERE I DROP’ record is a decadent feast of all things doom — dark, slow, and creeping into one’s ear, but also a little groovy in some places. ‘BURY ME WHERE I DROP’ brings a different vibe to the sludge aesthetic and takes on different shapes as the album plays on.
