SUN VOYAGER — ‘SELF TITLED’

If you’re looking for some high-energy heavy psych music — look no further! SUN VOYAGER is a New York based band that’s been around since 2013. With this being their eighth release it’s some of their best work yet! The self-titled album gives amazing levels of high octane tempos that keep up till the very end of the album. My favorite song has got to be “Rip The Sky” — a medley of aurora-like vocals and riffs to match. Definitely something to wake up with or get you out of a haze, quick! HOWLING UNIVERSE — ‘SHADY ELECTRIC’

Say hello to the atmospheric stoner blues band known as HOWLING UNIVERSE from the Netherlands! This is a single-soul band coming out with their debut album ‘Shady Electric’. This entire album feels like a vibe-tastic trip to the stars — a great record to chill out to and not think about anything. HOWLING UNIVERSE is a very good name for this band even though there’s no vocals. To be honest, Jimi Hendrix would’ve been tempted to sing over these songs if he were still alive today. Not too much on the Rock n’ Roll side of things but definitely in the atmosphere with the slow, dreamy blues chords. SONIC FLOWER — ‘ME AND MY BELL BOTTOM BLUES’

If you’re in need of some Rock n’ Roll style blues you’ve scrolled to the right place! SONIC FLOWER has returned to bring us this masterpiece of bluesy-psych that’s more on the wild side. ‘Me And My Bell Bottom Blues’ really pierces through to the heart of rock n’ roll and gives us the other side of psych music. With their screaming guitars and thunderous drums this Japanese band is a hair twirler’s dream! Old-school 60’s/70’s riffs that rage on like an electric wind — you’ve gotta hear this! TEVERTS — ‘THE LIFEBLOOD’

Okay let’s go forward in time to where heavy psych is today — 3-piece band TEVERTS has released their second album called ‘The Lifeblood’! With elements of true stoner doom this Benevento, Italy based band is little on the heavier side giving a more smoldering finish to each song. Less on the rock n’ roll side and more along the lines of metal, ‘The Lifeblood’ has an intensity that vibrates heavy psych, but screams doom. TEVERTS is a band I would love to see more of in the future for sure! TONS — ‘HASHENSION’

Well I’m sure you knew I was only gonna get heavier, and this is getting preeeeetty heavy for psych. TONS is another Italian band (ayyyyee!) from Torino, Italy who’s giving us a sludge-psych homage to ganja via their new album ‘Hashension’. You won’t hear the vocals until the second song “A Hash Day’s Night”, but when you do — oh fuck. Deep sludge/black metal roots with raspy howls with a gutteral backing vocals. ‘Hashension’ is a stellar combination of genres making the type of dark psych album that I don’t normally hear. SEAWITCH — “FORCE“

Hold onto your tits cause this one is gonna be live! This new Australian rock band with a gorgeously raw sound is coming out with their first album this month! SEAWITCH will be releasing their debut album ‘Well Of Spells’ on October 21st via CHEERSQUAD RECORDS & TAPES. Their newly released music video for “Force” is a “cosmic mash up of live footage, Fiona (Seawitch’s singer/guitarist) firedancing, epic South West Australian scenery and seawitchlings.” And about the song? “Force is a song about the power inside every individual to transform their lives for the better”, says lead singer/guitarist Fiona Horne. I can’t wait for the album to drop and we can see what other little gems may come our way!
