Hey everyone! Here we are with another amazing Saturday! It’s been raining here in Los Angeles lately. I’m currently waiting for the fresh rain smell to hit since it still smells like wet trash. At least the sound of rain is still the same as back home! In any case, today is Stoner Metal Saturday and I decided to mirror the playlist after the storm that’s brewing over Southern California right now. Fairly dark tones in this one, but every single one has a bit of a twist to it. Let’s go!
THUNDER HORSE — ‘CHOSEN ONE’
Yessss!!!! If you’re a huge fan of the 80’s and heavy stoner rock music, this is the perfect album for you! THUNDER HORSE is a southern sludge/stoner rock band from San Antonio, Texas who has just released their new album called ‘Chosen One’ via Ripple Music. These musicians like it “slow and low” and slightly psychedelic with some sick, nasty riffs. ‘Chosen One’ is a good choice for anyone into classic heavy metal, and even heavier indica. Roll one up and check out THUNDER HORSE‘s album below and be sure to purchase the physical copies while you can (literally selling out already and it was released yesterday).
DOOM N’ GLOOM — ‘FOR THOSE ABOUT TO DOOM’
Oh, this one is hitting just right. If you’re too damn high and want to zone out to some fuzzy, dark, doom, this is the one for you! DOOM N’ GLOOM is an instrumental/doom metal band from the Netherlands giving us their new album entitled ‘For Those About To Doom’. Another one for the indica lovers! Seriously loving how it all sounds like one long jam session (those are the best!) and how the snake-like riffs seem endless. It looks like this is DOOM N’ GLOOM‘s first album (nice!) and it was released earlier this year via Band Camp. Check out ‘For Those About To Doom’ below and be sure to show your support by purchasing a copy on their official Band Camp!
LES NADIE — “ZHONDA” (DEMO TRACK)
This is gonna hit a little differently. If you’re in the mood for something dark and weird this is the song for you! Another brand new band coming from Córdoba, Argentina, LES NADIE (translation: “nobody”) is a new kind of stoner rock band. “Zhonda” is their official demo track which was released on their YouTube channel back in late January. It’s not what you’d expect — I’m not even sure how to describe it. The song is twisted, dark, with strange yowls throughout and it all blends together perfectly. LES NADIE has definitely got something going on and I’m looking forward to seeing this band grow! No Band Camp to speak of yet, but follow/add them on social media to show some love!
AUSGANGSSPERRE — ‘GIRLS GRAVES AND SPACE’
This one is a little more chill, but still dark. If you’re looking for some stoner rock with nice riffs, and a hint of 80’s goth vibes this is the band you want! AUSGANGSSPERRE is a stoner rock band from Saarbrücken, Germany. ‘Girls Graves and Space’ looks like AUSGANGSSPERRE‘s (loosely translated as “curfew”) premiere album. I’m loving how slow and spacey it is while still maintaining the element of darkness. Check out their album below and show your support on their official Band Camp page!
SHEM — ‘II’
The ultimate jam session. If you’re in the mood for something a little more along the lines of dark space jams, then this is the music you want this week! SHEM is an instrumental space jam band from Stuttgart, Germany and they’re incredible. You could be sky high on either indica, sativa or a hybrid with this one — it’s for all types of highs. SHEM‘s ‘II’ is (you guessed it) their second album and was released last week. I’m loving how the music just feels like a constant flow that takes you to the deepest parts of space (or maybe that’s the weed haha!) and it’s just super chill/relaxing. Highly recommend this after a long, stressful day. Listen to SHEM‘s ‘II’ album below and head over to their official Band Camp page to purchase it for yourself!
