Hey everyone! This week will be a whole lot less writing since I almost cut my finger tip off trying to wedge some limes… whoops! I probably shouldn’t use a 15″ rambo survival knife for limes, but that’s a different post. Anyways, I shoved one of my vinyl gloves over it (which I’m sure I’ve bled in by now) so I can write up this week’s post. Feels weird typing like this, but we’re gonna make it work! I’m in a doom and gloom mood today (gee, I wonder why), so we’re about to get dark and stormy!
VANDRER — ‘IN SEARCH OF THE PATH OF RETURN’
As the blood ran down my arm at a rapid rate, this album was pretty calming. VANDRER is a single-soul (“one-man” is a hugely outdated term) instrumental/atmospheric doom metal band from Trondheim, Norway. Forged out of quarantine, this band is fairly new starting out with a September 2020 release. ‘In Search Of The Path Of Return’ is a gorgeous album for those that are in a gloomy “oh my god I almost cut my finger off with a rambo knife” mood. MY WALL — ‘THE EVENT/ABUSE’
Another album I can get behind for this week’s list! MY WALL is another doom band but this time it’s more doom/punk/noise and they’re from Nashville, Tennessee. The screaming resembles how I felt (what I sounded like) when I realized my hand was in danger. ‘The Event/Abuse’ is a two song EP of grungy, raspy screaming doom. FROGLORD — ‘SAVE THE FROGS’
FROGLORD is a single-soul sludge/doom band from Bristol, UK that started up last year during COVID (the rise of solo acts in the music industry in the past year is astounding and understandable). Their latest release ‘Save The Frogs’ is FROGLORD‘s fourth record on Band Camp. Loving the sludge-tastic sounds — really chilled me out today.
