Hey everyone! It’s cold as fuck here, finally feeling like winter! This is my favorite time of year to take blistering hot showers and just stand there for warmth. However cold it may be right now, I’ve got some red hot energy coming from this Full Leo Moon! This week let’s get a little energetic and sexy for the Stoner Metal Saturday playlist so’s to melt the frost from your ears. Let’s get right into it!
EROS — ‘EROS’
Heating up our playlist first is southern/stoner rock band EROS! Coming from Indianapolis, Indiana this is their first EP release! The lead vocals are incredible (something amazing to behold in person I’m sure) and the music just fits perfectly. I find myself playing this record repeatedly, and you probably will too — this will be the best 20 minutes of your day! This album is pure fire and doesn’t slow down until the last song (but then it just riles back up again). EROS is one of those bands I have to put on my “Need To See When COVID Is Over” list. MOTHER IRON HORSE — “OLD MAN SATAN”
Another fiery one to add to the list would be “Old Man Satan” by MOTHER IRON HORSE! This hard rock/doom band from Salem, Massachusetts is another band I need to see in person for sure! MOTHER IRON HORSE is all about “sex, drugs, and sacrilege” which are all previewed in the music video below. It’s rock n’ roll style with some doomy screams — perfect addition to this kind of playlist. ZEAHORSE — ‘LET’S NOT (AND SAY WE DID)’
Let’s get weird! Loving this album ‘Let’s Not (And Say We Did)’ by ZEAHORSE who’s a psychedelic/stoner rock band from Sydney, Australia. It’s like listening to a stoner rock album and then all of a sudden, the edibles hit (and the extra ones you ate cause you thought the batch was weak). ZEAHORSE‘s ‘Let’s Not (And Say We Did)’ is experimental and full of energetic sparks. It’s melodic, but doomy, and metal, but kind of chill. This album is everything — except boring! SLOWNER — “FLOOD OF HELL”
With a name like that, you have to bring it — brought it they did. SLOWNER is a good stoner/doom metal band from Brazil to listen to when you’re looking for something a little more on the darker doom/almost sludge side. Their song “Flood Of Hell” evokes a kind of hellish vibration and gives a sort of sensual feeling. It’s dark, and sexy — plain and simple. The slower tempo gives it more of a swing while the voice gives it that extra bit of soul. Check out SLOWNER‘s song “Flood Of Hell” below and head over to their Band Camp page to buy!
WOJTEK — ‘DOES THIS DREAM SLOW DOWN, UNTIL IT STOPS?’
Here’s where I go full blown demon. If you’re looking for something darker, doomier, blacker… this is your stop! WOJTEK is a doom/sludge metal band from Padua, Italy and is the darkest vibe on this week’s list! Their full length EP ‘Does This Dream Slow Down, Until It Stops?’ was released a few days ago on their Band Camp. The album is an intense flavor of Italian doom with WOJTEK as the master chef.
