Hey everyone! Happy New Capricorn Moon! I hope your ritual went as planned or something like it! I’m very pleased with all the comments and messages I received from the last Witchy Shit Playlist! So to continue the theme of this moon, I’ve found five more YouTube videos for you to play in the background while you play with your altar! When it comes to New Capricorn Moons I usually tend to ground myself in all parts of my life. I found myself needing more variety with my music this time around so this list is going to be a little more eclectic than last time. This deep, dark, earthy moon is just getting started and I have some more music for you to check out!
Witchy Things To Do During The New Capricorn Moon

The next two weeks are going to be very trying and groundbreaking. But when the earth splits, that’s when you can plant a seed. Find out what you want, and what it keeping you from getting there (fyi: it’s probably you), and figure out a way to move passed it. Start something new this year! It doesn’t have to be a new you necessarily, just new habits and some serious trimming of who you give your energy to. This is the time to reserve yourself to preserve your yourself, meaning: keeping your energy to yourself now so you can harness it later. Right now you need self care to the highest degree. Stay in the dark void and heal, progress with your projects and resolutions, and block out anyone who disturbs the earth (your peace). This is a time to be still and find yourself (before you tear yourself in half trying to do everything at once). Meditate. Find your peace. Create your foundation for the year.
MUSIC FOR NEW CAPRICORN MOON RITUALS
OCTOPUS DIVER — ‘BORN TO DIVE’
Dark, moody, and perfect. OCTOPUS DIVER is a psychedelic/stoner rock band from Paris, France and a beautiful way to start, conduct, or end your witchy ritual. OCTOPUS DIVER‘s album ‘Born To Dive’ has a deep, calming effect for the listener — like gently floating down the rabbit hole without fear of the unknown. If you’re looking for something soft, but still with an element of brooding translated through stoner rock then this is the band for you! Listen to their album below and be sure to check out their Band Camp page to purchase!
NIGHT HAG — “ROTTING”
Let’s get savage. NIGHT HAG‘s song “Rotting” is from a split record with CRYPTIC HAG that was released January 8, 2021 (and is sold out unfortunately). This Virginia Beach band is a great mixture between death and doom metal. The music is something I feel like I would meditate with to give myself an edge before I even begin the ritual. NIGHT HAG really brings out that sort of inner-badass vibe — create that energy and channel it. True to doom metal, this song is over ten minutes long so you get a good long lasting feeling. Give it a listen below and be sure to check out their Band Camp to buy their music!
HONOLULU BLITZ — ‘PALE MOON’
HONOLULU BLITZ is a band I didn’t really see coming. ‘Pale Moon’ is a beautiful album that I could dance to all night (I plan on it). Definitely something to play mid-ritual when you’re already in the zone — serious energy booster. This grunge/doom/heavy/stoner rock band from Copenhagen, Denmark has flavorful ties to 90’s and 00’s styles. HONOLULU BLITZ took a ten year break before coming out with ‘Pale Moon’ and is said to be a lot heavier and slower than their earlier work! Listen to their fantastic full-length album below and purchase it on their Band Camp page here!
WITHIN THY WOUNDS — ‘FOREST OF INIQUITY’
A mystical evergreen forest is what comes to mind with this music. WITHIN THY WOUNDS‘ album ‘Forest of Iniquity’ is something I’d play to harness some energy because it’s somber but fiery — makes me think of blue flames, the hottest of all. This atmospheric back metal band invokes so much — and it’s their FIRST full album. I love being impressed by a band’s first record — I’m adding them to the “ones to watch” list for sure. WITHIN THY WOUNDS brings a feral vibe to anyone’s ritual — meditative and energy enhancing. Give this beautiful record a listen and buy it (for only $1?! — give them more money) on Band Camp here!
HOLY DEATH — ‘”CELESTIAL THRONE OV GRIEF”
Nothing like a good ending theme song right? HOLY DEATH‘s “Celestial Throne Ov Grief” gives me the kind of music to bring the ritual to an epic close. Full of deep energy, but calming/relaxing rather than amplifying. The twenty minute death/doom song is riddled with slow, sensual riffs and deep bass lines. HOLY DEATH has only just begun their music career not too long ago and are already becoming a fast favorite. Listen to their epic track below and buy it on their official Band Camp page here (which is “name your price” so tip generously)!
AS ABOVE, SO BELOW.
