What’s up everyone?! I hope everyone’s doing alright as California enters another “Stay-At-Home”/Curfew phase. We’re all pretty much wondering when this is going to end. If you’re an essential worker, bless you. You must be scared everyday trying not to catch COVID. And for the shut-ins, me included, some of us are becoming agoraphobic. I can’t remember the last time I went to an actual store to pick some things up. I kind of miss doing stupid shit like that now. And for the states that refuse to close or curfew for public safety reasons… we’re gonna miss y’all when you’re gone (except the racists… we don’t care about you)! Welp, today is another STONER METAL SATURDAY and I’m here to bring you some badass music to help balance you out during these bizarre times. I recently had the pleasure of doing a zoom style interview with this amazing LA-based quartet called FAETOOTH! An all female doom metal band born and raised in Los Angeles (perfection) who know how to kick off a playlist! Their album ‘… An Invocation’ is almost eighteen minutes long with four songs luring me deeper into a meditative state (especially the one below). Not sure how I came across this band or how they came across me, but I’m glad! Loving the dark, fiery tones of this album (that bass though). The feminine energy of this band is one I haven’t seen in a long time. Mixing doom, stoner, and punk rhythms with ease; screaming bloody murder before switching to a haunting, celestial voice… I must say, I’m a definite fan!

Loving this new EP from PRAŸ! It actually just dropped THIS morning! From Lyon, France, PRAŸ brings something different to the table — completely instrumental, French Stoner Rock with a hint of doom. This is something I could put on in the morning to get my day started (I did today)! Loud rock n’ roll style stoner metal, lulling into a calm, melodic ending. True to the genre, this album is only two songs long, but they pack enough beautiful sounds in both to satisfy anyone. I highly recommend checking this band out if you’re into getting really stoned and vibing out!

GREEN DRUID — ‘AT THE MAW OF RUIN’
ALRIGHT! So I’ve been featuring GREEN DRUID for a bit now and it’s finally happened! Their new album ‘At The Maw Of Ruin’ is officially out! This album is definitely different from the two previous ones this Denver, Colorado band has put out before. Very experimental with atmospheric sounds, vocals, and rhythm changes. I can’t decide which one is my favorite! It’s a tie between “Haunted Memories” and “Desert of Fury/Ocean of Despair” — so much range in those two songs. GREEN DRUID is hitting their stride with this one — gloom and doom, dark as fuck, swallowed whole by despair and puked out like a bad Tequila night (ugh my birthday lol). This hour and six-minute album is what I needed this year!

HOT HELMET — ‘TRAVEL IN THE LOST’
Another crazy cool one for the zine! This time it’s a Psychedelic Stoner Rock band from Ahrensburg, Germany called HOT HELMET! Riffs on riffs and weird experimental tones with this epic jam session — and it’s all improvised! That’s pretty wild for how killer it turned out! ‘Travel in the Lost’ is the kind of album you play when you want to kick back with some chill ass Indica Hybrid kush — the perfect kind of music to get lost to and vibe with. I’d love to see HOT HELMET do an impromptu jam session live sometime! That would be sick!
