The Last Slaying: Slayer Says Goodbye

This journalist is disheartened by this news… give me a sec.

So Slayer has made the official announcement via their social media and band site that this will be their FINAL tour… ever. The first peak of this lineup was when Testament hinted at a large scale tour coming in the Summer of 2018, but we didn’t expect this:

“The end is near…
SLAYER TO MAKE ITS EXIT WITH ONE FINAL WORLD TOUR

After making some of the most brutal, breathtakingly aggressive, all-hell’s-a-breaking-loose music ever created, playing nearly 3000 concerts in all corners of the world, receiving countless awards, gracing hundreds of magazine covers, experiencing the devastating loss of a founding brother, and even appearing on “The Tonight Show,” the age of Slayer, one of the greatest thrash/ metal/punk bands of this or any age, is coming to an end.

Slayer will do one last concert tour around the globe to thank their fans for all of their support over the years, for making the last three-and-a-half decades so packed with good times and unforgettable experiences, and will then move on.”

In an interview back in August 29, 2017 with Loudwire, Tom Araya touched on the band’s legal troubles stating, “There’s a lot of things going on business-wise. There were a lot of things that we didn’t take care of when Jeff was alive. So once we take all of that stuff and get it taken care of, then we’ll see what the future holds.”

“I shouldn’t be talking about it right now”, he added. “We’re trying to settle a business that should have been settled a long time ago. And that’s where we’re at.”

Jeff Hanneman passed away in May 2013 from alcohol-related cirrhosis of the liver. He is credited for writing many of SLAYER’s classic songs, including “Angel Of Death” and “South Of Heaven”.

A bit of good news: Kerry King’s wife announced that he will still be making music, and even wrote a song about our “Shithole” American President.
